It's the day after the Super Bowl, and regardless of who you were cheering for, (Beyonce, Coldplay or Bruno), chances are, you may be feeling a little post-game bloat from the festivities. I called upon my good friend Neda, (whose nutrition blog, Healthy with Nedi is my go to for advice on how to eat healthy), to give me some healthy alternatives to party dips for not only game day viewing but also for regular snacking on an everyday basis. Here are two awesome options.
Delicious and a pretty orange color, this dip can be amazing with crudite as well as crackers. The best thing is how easy it is to make! You just have to combine all of the ingredients into a food processor and blend until smooth.
- 1 can chickpeas, rinse and drainer
- 2 carrots, cut into chunks
- 2 tbs olive oil
- 5 tbs water
- 3 garlic cloves
- 1 lemon, juiced
- 1/3 cup tahini
- 1/2 tsp sea salt
- 1/2 tsp Simply Organic Turmeric
STEP 1. Add all of the ingredients to a blender or food processor and blend until smooth.
STEP 2. Serve with chips of your choice. I like TERRA CHIPS or sliced veggies!
This one is my personal favorite. I could literally eat this every day! It’s cool, creamy & super duper healthy! The cucumber can be diced or grated. I prefer it diced, due to the additional crunch. Its great accompanied with small bites, grilled meats or as a dip. The recipe stays fresh in the fridge for a couple of days.
- 6 tbsp Fage non-fat Greek yogurt
- 2 persian cucumbers, diced in small pieces
- 1 garlic clove, minced
- 2 tbsp dill, chopped
- 1 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
- salt to taste
STEP 1. In a large glass bowl, mix all of the ingredients well.
STEP 2. Taste to see if its "too garlicky" and add another spoon of yogurt if you wish.
STEP 3. Transfer to a serving bowl and enjoy!
